Joe Fitzgerald established All Iowa Construction in 1997 as a trusted, full-service

contractor specializing in roofing, siding, concrete, and remodeling across Central Iowa, committed to an honest, hassle-free experience.

Driven by a passion for sustainability, Joe expanded his vision in 2013 by founding Shockwave. Shockwave focuses on creating value-added products by repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, using advanced dehydration, particle size reduction, and separation techniques to transform waste into innovative coproducts. Renova Technologies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shockwave was founded in 2019.

Iowa leads the nation in egg production, with approximately 60 million laying hens producing an astounding 16 billion eggs annually. This massive industry not only supplies eggs for consumption but also results in a significant number of eggs being broken, leading to large quantities of eggshell waste. Rather than allowing these eggshells to be discarded in landfills, Renova created innovative solutions to upcycle this byproduct into valuable materials. By extracting the eggshell membrane and calcium, which is rich in collagen (Type I, V, X), protein, and amino acids, we created high-quality ingredients for various applications, including food, nutraceuticals for joint health, and cosmeceuticals for anti-aging skincare. Additionally, calcium carbonate derived from eggshells serves multiple functions as a food ingredient, a soil conditioner to enhance agricultural productivity, and an abrasive or filler material in industrial applications.

Through advanced process technology, Renova is addressing the environmental challenges associated with high-pathogen eggshell waste disposal. By partnering with egg-breaking facilities, Renova aims to reduce landfill contributions, mitigate disposal costs, and transform eggshell waste into valuable, sustainable products. This initiative not only helps protect the environment but also maximizes the potential of Iowa’s thriving egg industry by creating a circular economy for what was once considered waste.
